Confidentiality

Confidentiality & Anonymity

  • All counselling is away from the workplace at EFAP/North offices.
  • Individuals from the same worksite are never scheduled for back-to-back appointments.
  • Identifying messages will not be left at home or work without consent.
  • Statistical reports do not include any identifiable information from an individual.

All EFAP/North professionals are legally and ethically bound to protect the confidentiality of their clients within the limits of the law. They are:

  1. When we have reasonable grounds to suspect that any child may be suffering or may have suffered physical or sexual abuse or neglect.
  2. When we believe that the client is in imminent danger of harming himself/herself or others.
  3. When files are subpoenaed to court which may occur in child custody, criminal matters, or other court-related situations.
